pattern 661 in your hands, so you can inspect any skin in game before spending a cent.
The weapon exists only on that server: gen codes never create a real, tradable item and
do nothing in matchmaking.
Why the float and seed matter

Two copies of the same skin can look nothing alike. The float sets the wear from pristine 0.00 to battle-worn 1.00, and the pattern seed decides how the finish is placed on the model, which is the whole story on Case Hardened blue gems, Fade percentages and Doppler phases. A gen code is a chat command for CS2 community servers that run a skin generation plugin. What do the four numbers in a !gen command mean?
In order: the weapon's definition index (16 is the M4A4, 507 the Karambit), the paint kit index that names the finish (309 is the Howl), the float that sets the wear from 0 to 1, and the pattern seed that decides how the finish sits on the model.
Do gen codes work in matchmaking?
No. Gen codes only work on community servers that have a gen plugin installed. They have no effect in matchmaking or Premier, and they never produce an item you can keep or trade.
