How PatinaAI calculates CS2 skin prices

PatinaAI compares CS2 marketplace prices, converts them to EUR and applies each market's configured selling fee. Asking prices, completed sales and Steam Wallet credit measure different things. The desk keeps those distinctions visible, checks for stale or unusual quotes, and uses available float, pattern and attachment data to estimate individual copies.

Where do the prices come from?

PatinaAI combines marketplace feeds with reference prices from the CSGOTrader price feed. Direct integrations include Skinport and CSFloat. Coverage varies by skin and market; a tracked venue does not necessarily have a current quote for every item.

Skinport completed-sale windows provide sales medians and sold counts. Steam prices describe its separate Wallet economy. Source documentation is available from Skinport, CSFloat and the Steam Community Market FAQ. These sources supply market observations; PatinaAI's comparisons and estimates are its own calculations.

What does a CS2 skin's price mean?

Read the label before comparing two prices
PriceWhat it measuresMain limitation
Cheapest askThe lowest available listing in the quoted market or comparison.A buyer's advertised cost before any additional checkout charges. It is not a completed sale.
Net proceedsThe gross price after the configured selling fee.Assumes a sale at that price. Withdrawal costs, taxes and account-specific rates can differ.
Sold medianThe middle price of recorded completed sales over the stated window.Historical evidence; a thin or older sample may not represent today's price.
Steam Wallet netWallet credit remaining after Steam's fees.Wallet funds cannot be withdrawn from Steam as cash.
Cash equivalentCash-market net proceeds, or an estimated conversion of Wallet credit.A comparison estimate, not a withdrawal offer.

The desk's best sell venue is chosen from eligible cash markets with a usable quote. Reference books help compare prices but cannot automatically become the recommended place to sell. A high asking price does not establish that a buyer will pay it.

How are fees and currencies applied?

Net proceeds = gross price × (1 − selling fee). For a hypothetical €100 sale with a 10% fee, the estimated net is €90. This example explains the calculation; it does not quote any marketplace's current fee. See the marketplace fee comparison for the rates PatinaAI currently uses.

Prices are converted to EUR before comparison and rounded to cents. Exchange rates are cached; if a refresh fails, the last cached rate may remain in use. Your payment provider's conversion can differ. Steam Wallet credit is multiplied by a configurable cash-equivalent factor for comparisons. That factor is an estimate, not an exchange rate or a cash-out service.

How recent and reliable are the quotes?

Use the page's “Prices last read” timestamp when citing a price. It records when the underlying quotes were fetched, not when you opened the page. Markets refresh independently, so a comparison may contain quotes of different ages; dated skin pages also call out an older book when it lags.

The inventory pricing engine excludes stale asks from its best-price and buy-price choices and compares unusual cash quotes with other available prices. These checks reduce errors but cannot guarantee that a listing is still available. Read the venue, wear, price type, sales window and timestamp together before acting.

What does the CS2 market index measure?

PatinaAI's market index uses Steam sold history. Each market name's daily price is divided by its first recorded price; the median of those ratios is multiplied by 100. The result is index points, not a euro price or an estimate of cash proceeds. The current UTC day and trailing days with insufficient coverage are excluded, so the latest published day can lag today.

The market report's dated index table gives the latest observations. Its movers and breadth use separate Skinport rolling sales windows. A mover compares the 7-day sold median with the overlapping 30-day sold median; this percentage is not a seven-day return. Read the report's calculation and sample rules alongside the figures.

Why can two copies of the same skin have different values?

Wear, exact float, pattern seed, Doppler phase and applied attachments can change what buyers pay. PatinaAI uses available inspect data, comparable listings and valuation rules to estimate those differences. Rare patterns and crafts can have few comparable sales, so a per-copy estimate carries more uncertainty than a frequently traded standard skin.

Missing inspect data or prices limit what can be valued. Applied stickers do not automatically add their unapplied market price to a skin. Read the float and wear guide and Doppler phase guide for the attributes behind the comparison.

How can I check or report a price?

  1. Find the finish in the CS2 skin directory and compare the same wear and variant.
  2. Check the named market, fees and quote date. Use sold counts to judge how much trading supports the price.
  3. Verify the listing and your account's actual fees at the marketplace before a transaction.

To report an error, send the page URL, skin and wear, marketplace, displayed price and the time you saw it to info@patinaai.net. PatinaAI is an independent analysis tool, does not hold your items, and is not affiliated with Valve. Prices are indicative.
