Is a CS2 trade fair? How to check

A "fair" trade is not just matching sticker prices. It is about what each side could actually sell their items for, how easily, and who takes on the harder resale. Here is the checklist.

1. Value both sides on real, net prices

Start with what each item would clear in cash, on a market you can actually use, after that market's fee. Steam-wallet-only prices and inflated trade-site "values" both mislead. Total each side and see where you stand before anything else.

2. Price per copy, not per name

This is where most trades go wrong. Two copies of the same skin can differ hugely on float and pattern. A pristine float, a blue-gem seed, a good Doppler phase or applied stickers can add a large premium — and the plain name price hides all of it. Value the exact items in the offer, not their averages.

3. Read the spread and liquidity

A skin that only sells once a month is worth less to you than its listed price, because you are stuck holding it. If you are receiving the less liquid item, you should be paid for that risk. The "overpay" convention exists for exactly this reason:

4. Check the person, not just the items

Incoming vs. outgoing offers

Checking a trade you are sending is simple: value their public inventory and your items and compare. Reading the offers waiting on you is harder, because it needs your own Steam session to see the full detail — that is what a connected extension is for.

PatinaAI does the arithmetic for you: paste a trade link and both sides get valued per copy, float, pattern and stickers in, with a verdict and the spread spelled out.
